Handisport Open Paris 2019 - World Para-Athletics Grand Prix

On Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August, we had the pleasure of attending the World Para-Athletics Grand Prix in Paris, organised by our partner Handisport (The French Federation for Disabled Sports).

It was an exciting two days full of great performances by para-athletes across 62 nations competing in various sports, including running, wheelchair racing, long jump, disc throw, shot put and many others.

It was a great opportunity for HAGS to learn more about the challenges that people with physical disabilities have to go through and how they overcome those challenges. Understanding some of the equipment used by these talented athletes and how they have been adapted to meet their requirements has helped us comprehend that one size does not fit all, however, by making slight adjustments you can make a piece of equipment accessible and usable by as many people as possible.

At the exhibition stand, it was wonderful to see visitors and athletes trying out our equipment, whether it be teenagers and adults on the Denfit Fitpoint (abled bodied and disabled) or children enjoying the springer and La Casita playhouse, they all had smiles on their faces. Team Germany also had a cheeky go on the Anky Springer!

We had the pleasure of meeting many children and adults with disabilities, as well as their carers and coaches, giving us a real insight into the different conditions and better understand the needs of everyone. We continue our journey to become experts in creating inclusive play areas by understanding and expanding our knowledge in the different disabilities and needs of our end users.

We are very proud to have taken part at this event and support such talented and amazing athletes. We look forward to continuing this journey and meeting more amazing people that inspires all of us.
