Golden Acre Play Area, Saffron Walden

Golden Acre Play Area is located next to the community centre of the same name, to the North of Saffron Walden town centre. The brief was to refurbish existing equipment (laid by HAGS over 20 years ago!) and add additional equipment to create a bright and colourful play area for the community, as laid out in the public consultation.

An all-weather solution

It was vital to offer an all-year, all-weather solution which offered inclusion for all, increased swinging, climbing, rotating and multi-generational use. Ground graphics which would support the children’s physical fitness were also important.

Reuse and Recycle

The Town council team and councillors we keen to have new and unique dynamic products that complimented the existing products on site that could be recycled, reused, or refurbished. HAGS had previously installed two multi units on-site over 20 years ago and the HAGS I&M team were able to fully refurbish the units so they now look as good as new. This gave the council better flexibility to spend their funding on additional products increasing the overall number of users and play value.
